Physical Activity Exercise, community, and mastery improve mental health 🧡
Physical activity is beneficial for both our physical and mental health. Studies show that exercise is more effective against mental illness than medications in many cases. Exercise definitely provides many health benefits, and students can particularly benefit from them.
Benefits
Some positive psychological effects of physical activity include:
More energy
Increased concentration
Improved stress management
Better mood
Enhanced memory
Improved endurance
Boosted self-confidence
Better sleep
Prevents and reduces mild levels of anxiety and depression
What can you do?
We understand that starting to be physically active alone can be challenging, especially if you already struggle with anxiety and depression. We want you to find a form of exercise that is meaningful for you and that you experience mastery in. This increases the chances that you will continue the activity for an extended period.
It is often valuable if the activity is offered as part of a comprehensive treatment program, together with competent professionals, where the training is individually tailored.
